Choosing the Right Shrink Wrap Bundler for Your Product
Automatic shrink wrap bundling machines are designed to make the packaging of products more efficient. Unlike shrink bundlers in the $500 dollar price range, a premium shrink wrap bundler is designed for high product volume.
This is where Holland Packaging’s Autopack shrink bundlers fit in. These systems are used in industrial settings and are made for handling inventories that need to be packaged and moved on a daily basis.
Autopack semi-automatic machines not only save time but stand up over the test of time.
This is where Autopack reliability makes a difference, which is why many of our customers have had the same system installed and working for decades.
How Automatic Shrink Bundlers Work
When considering a shrink wrap bundler, it’s important to find the right system for your product. How the shrink wrap bundler works and the packaging material it uses are equally important.
Shrink bundling machines typically use polyethylene shrink film in shrink-wrapping applications as a secondary packaging material.
Polyethylene is economical and is available in various thicknesses. It is our standard for use with Autopack machines.
Shrink bundler machines collate and push products through the web of film. A sealer bar then seals the film as the products are conveyed into a heat tunnel.
The airflow of the heat tunnel shrinks the film around the product as the conveyor pushes it through the tunnel.
The product then leaves the heat tunnel and cooling fans firm up the shrink film package.
Shrink Bundlers for Different Package Requirements
Different types of shrink wrap bundlers will produce various package requirements. It’s also important to know that you can change pack-pattern settings to create a variety of pack-pattern bundles.
The way a machine seals the film can also vary. For instance, a shrink wrap bundler with a welding bar is designed to create a film seal on both the top and bottom of the pack.
An example of this is the Autopack SIM Inline Infeed Shrink Wrap Bundler with Welding Bar.
There are also continuous motion shrink wrap bundlers that overlap the film around the bottom of the product bundle and seal it. The Autopack CMOS continuous motion overlap shrink wrap bundler is an example of this type of machine, as seen in this video.
Next, there are shrink wrap bundlers with horizontal collators. These machines are ideal for bundling 1×2, 1×4, or 1×6 packs of items. The Autopack SLH with a larger infeed conveyor is a perfect example of the type of machine that can create horizontal packs such as these.
On the other hand, you may have a product that needs to be stacked and bundled. For this, we offer shrink wrap bundlers with vertical collators such as our Autopack SIVand Autopack SLV.
If you have oval-shaped products that need shrink bundling, there are packaging machines that can create a pack- pattern, at the proper orientation so the shrink film fits the item perfectly. The Autopack SLO Shrink Wrap Bundler is designed for the collation and wrapping of oval-shaped items.
Another type of shrink bundler is designed for unstable products. This is a product that requires the stability of shrink packaging to keep it standing and stacked properly. The Autopack SLR Shrink Wrap Bundler is made specifically for unstable products.
As you can see, there are different types of shrink bundlers designed to handle the film-wrapping of products differently. There is even a case and tray packer that can be added to your shrink bundling system.
Additionally, we offer customized infeed and discharge conveyor options to help you make the best use of your factory space.
So, if you are considering a shrink wrap bundler, it helps to know these differences. At Holland Packaging, we have installed all of these types of Autopack machines and can help you select the right one for your product and industry.
